About Lapis Lazuli
The mineral rock consists of calcite, lazurite, and pyrite. Mined for over six thousand years and found all over the world from Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Canada, Chile, India, Italy, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia to the United States.
Lapis Lazuli crystal was favoured for its royal blue colour with white and gold marbling. Lapis Lazuli was the prize for the wealthy, noble and possibly even royal just like the peony flower. Egyptian Kings and Queens would adorn themselves in Lapis Lazuli as a testament to their power and stand within the community.
Using the stone to create pendants, scarabs, dyes, and even eyeshadow. In Medieval Europe soothsayers and shamans used the stone to conjure spirits of light for protection against the dark forces of witchcraft.
