Lemon Aspen Tree Uses

A sometimes overlooked natural resource is the vibrant of our native plants and their fruits. The Lemon Aspen tree produces a pale lemon coloured fruit that has high levels of anti-oxidants and b vitamins.  This zesty fruit is about the size of a large grape, with a star-shaped core similar to an apple.

Lemon Aspen is found in the rainforests of the east coast of Australia predominantly Queensland, although it can grow as far south as Sydney along the coast in frost-free areas. It grows up to 2.15 m in height with dark green elliptical leaves. Flowering in summer to late autumn then followed by the aromatic and acidic fruit.

Cooking With Lemon Aspen

Lemon Aspen is a native commodity pack a powerful flavour with a tart citrus taste and a hint of eucalyptus very tangy. Great when the flesh is stewed with sugar and then used in a variety of recipes including sauces, chutney, fish seasoning, marmalade, desserts, refreshing drinks or pastries and much more.

When using Lemon Aspen at home just remember that 100 g of lemon aspen is equal to the juice zest or pulp of approximately 6 large lemons.
